Albert Allen Griffith was born on February 28, 1933 in DeQuincy, Louisiana to John Thomas Griffith and Thelma Ruby Yellott. As a child, Albert moved to Phoenix, Oregon where he would continue living until, he joined the military. On June 29, 1951, at the age of 17, Albert would join the US Navy. Before being discharged in 1955 as a Seaman, he had the privilege to serve on the USS Princeton and the USS Estes. He definitely had his sea legs having spent 3 years, 6 months and 17 days out at sea during his enlistment period. After military service, Albert settled into civilian life. He started dating Darlene Elser, who he had met early on when he would come to her family farm to help work the land or spend time with his friend. The two hit it off and would soon marry on June 21, 1957. They would settle in the Willamette Valley until 1966 when they would purchase and move into the family home in Aumsville. Albert moved to different jobs during his lifetime as positions became available. He would work for almost 10 years for the Simpson Plywood Mill before going to Salem and working for the Parks Department and then the Public Schools. He would retire some years later after finally ending up at Pafco Manufacturing as a steel fabricator. In his spare time, Albert enjoyed Hunting, fishing, Mudslinging, taking care of the farm and Antique cars. He was an excellent wood craftsman and would use his skills to build wooden spokes for cars, as well as, rebuilding their interior. We would often rebuild Model-T cars amongst others and had well over a dozen rebuilds to his name. He was also musical inclined; often playing his guitar and Harmonica for those around him. Even with all his activities, he still made time and enjoyed coffee with friends and family and “the House”. On May 6, 2019 Albert passed away at his home in Aumsville, Oregon surrounded by family.
