Betty “Joyce” Crawford, born October 22 1952 in Long Beach California, passed away after a courageous 13 year battle with Multiple Myeloma on July 22 2019. She was 66 years old. She is survived by her loving partner Jack Crawford, brothers James Evans and Dan Shadoin, children Kimberly (McCauley) LeCornu and Jason McCauley, grandchildren Samantha McCauley, Peyton LeCornu, Alex McCauley, Jasmynn McCauley, great-grandson Hunter McCauley, nieces Marianne Waddell and Melissa Shadoin, nephews Joey Evans, JW Evans, Matthew Shadoin, David Shadoin, and Cannon Shadoin, along with many aunts and cousins. Joyce joined several family members in heaven including her daughter Shelly Cable, parents James and Louise Evans, stepdad Philip Shadoin, grandparents Louis and Eula Ford, aunt Catherine Arneson, uncle John Ford, and cousin Cori Hoggatt. Joyce grew up in southern California before relocating to Oregon. She attended Will Rogers School and La Habra High School. She married Robert Cable in Downey California on September 26th 1970 and was also baptized in their church, Melodyland Christian Center, on August 31, 1972. They divorced after the heartache from Shelly’s passing. Afterwards, she met and married Paul McCauley on April 19, 1975. Joyce lovingly convinced Paul to follow her parents and move to Oregon. He couldn’t say no so they packed up and drove north on Paul’s motorcycle to begin their lives together. Shortly after the birth of their first child Kimberly, they moved from Corvallis to Albany in 1976. In 1980, they had their 2nd child Jason and purchased their first home on Lafayette St. It’s here that they focused their attention on raising their family and enjoying countless family get-togethers. They encountered rough times and eventually divorced in 1991. When not spending time with her family, Joyce worked a few jobs but her final and most enriching was while at Hewlett-Packard. Joyce’s career at HP spanned over 23 years with several positions including a process operator before she retired. It’s also at HP that she met Jack and fell in love again. They married May 12 1999 and he remained by her side until the very end. They enjoyed many trips together, camping, drives in the forest, spending time with the kids and grandkids, and attending church at Grace Bible Fellowship Church with her brothers and sisters in Christ. Joyce also enjoyed writing recipes, cross-stitching, quilting, and was a member of the Oregon Quilters Guild. When describing Joyce, one will quickly be overcome by words such as loving, vivacious, & joyful. She was a woman of God who thanked him every day for another day on Earth. She was our matriarch and leaves behind so many loved ones but each possess a glimmer of Joyce in each of their charismatic ways. Joyce, Mom, Nana, Sis, Sweetie, you are loved so completely and deeply. The memories will never fade from our hearts nor our minds. We love you forever. Until we see you again… Funeral services will be held at Grace Bible Fellowship Church on Thursday, August 1st at 1pm. 33990 McFarland Rd.
