Cara Fay Starnes Profile Photo

Cara Fay Starnes was born on October 1, 1949 in Hines, West Virginia to Kennith and Elsie Williams. Growing up she had 9 other siblings to spend and fill her days playing with. Most of her life was spent in Eugene, Oregon until she moved to Salem. Cara was mostly a homemaker and seamstress throughout her life, but her favorite job of all was being a mom to her two children. Later, when she became a grandmother, Cara loved that as well. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren. They were her biggest joy. She also would take in any of her children’s friends and make them feel loved and welcome when they came to her home. No one was a stranger to Cara and every person she came into contact with got a hug. Besides family, Cara would go second hand shopping and find neat items to collect. She loved to garden and would often start her own plants in addition to collecting seeds and would sew. For over 25 years Cara bravely fought cancer and all through her treatments stayed strong and faithful. The last several years brought her much joy living with her daughter and being close to her family. On November 30, 2018 Cara passed away in Salem, Oregon at age 69. She is survived by her son, Terry Starnes of Eugene, Oregon and daughter, Heather Melow of Salem; grandchildren, Alexandra, Conner, Brandon, Nathan, Brandon and Adam; great grandchildren, Annabelle, Presley and Vilayah in addition to her surviving siblings.
