Obituary for Craig Jaeger

Craig Lawrence Jaeger was an avid outdoorsman.  As a native Oregonian, he grew up hunting, and fishing with first his dad, and later, with family and friends.  His cousins tagged him with the nickname of daddy long-legs on his first successful elk hunting trip, by covering a surprising distance to get his elk. Craig was the architect of the elk camp and last man in at night.

Craig also had a soulful side, and enjoyed woodworking, photography, and playing guitar, often with his kids.  Spending time with nature at his cabin La Grande, was also a favorite pastime. He was a craftsman carpenter that made unique musical instruments, boats, and great gifts for others.

At an early age, he began working with his dad, eventually becoming an owner of Brockamp & Jaeger. They were very close enjoying the same hobbies and interests. Throughout his career, Craig was involved in the Portland Carpenters Apprenticeship Program.  He eventually retired after becoming an owner of Jaeger & Erwert.

He is survived by his wife Kathy of twenty-eight years, and his children, Jacoby (named after his Grandma Sophia), and Noah (named after the 1996 flood), and his siblings: Shelley Davis, Katie Jaeger, and Chris Jaeger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Ferdinand Jaeger, and Phyllis May (Amerman) Jaeger.

He was a good friend to many (including his dog Gus), a loyal, loving husband and proud father.  This humble man, with the killer smile, will be greatly missed. He was funny, smart, caring, and thoughtful- one of the good ones.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
