Eugene, Oregon

Dale, 99, passed away on December 1st in the presence of Linore, his high school sweetheart and wife of 77 years. He was born March 24, 1916 on a family-owned dairy farm in Stayton, OR, to Floyd C. Crabtree and Cora B. Crabtree. Dale graduated from Stayton High School and completed his undergraduate studies at Willamette University. Dale married Marion Linore Inglis on June 15, 1938. They raised six sons.

His business career was interrupted by military service during WW II. With the US Army, Dale was assigned duties in France. When the war ended, Dale settled in Stayton with his family where he opened a Western Auto Store. While operating the business, Dale enrolled in law school and received his law degree from Willamette University law school.

As an attorney, Dale had a private practice in Stayton, served several years as the Klamath County District Attorney, worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the Oregon Department of Justice, and retired after a career as an Administrative Law Judge with the Social Security Administration in Eugene.

Dale had been a board member of Gutenberg College, supported ministries of the McKenzie Study Center and a member of Reformation Fellowship, all in Eugene. He often worked with others to craft and support initiatives and legislation related to Oregons tax system. Dale authored a biography, which he shared with family and friends. The last few chapters he wrote with the aid of a projector because of failing eyesight.

Dale was preceded in death by his brother, Roe Crabtree of Spokane; sister, Doris Forrette of Stayton; and his sons, Thomas G. Crabtree of Dallas and Robert D. Crabtree of Jefferson City TN and grandson John David Crabtree San Jose, CA. He is survived by his wife Linore Crabtree of Eugene; sons, Donald K. Crabtree (Cheryl) of Mehama, John (Jack) A. Crabtree (Jody) of Eugene, David W. Crabtree (Susan) of Eugene and Kenton F. Crabtree (Julie) of Juneau, AK. Survivors also include daughters-in-law, Peggy Crabtree (Robert) of Jefferson City, TN, and Kief Crabtree (Thomas) of Eugene; 18 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. A private interment was held at the Lone Oak Cemetery in Stayton. Arrangements for a memorial service are yet to be determined.

Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services.
