Delores (Dunham) Burleson was born on April 27, 1936, in Leon, lowa to Ralph and Dorcas (Zimmerman) Dunham. She grew up with 5 sisters and one brother. Her family moved to Oregon in the Spring of 1947 and made their home in the Jefferson area.
While in high school, Delores would meet the love of her life, George Burleson. Delores graduated from Jefferson High School in 1954. George gave Delore’s his class ring during his senior year and a two years later replaced it with a diamond wedding ring. They were married on December 29, 1956. Delores worked for the telephone company in Salem for five years. Once she had the twin girls(charla and Carla)she became a homemaker. She loved to cook for her family and friends and always had cookies baking.
Delores loved spending time with her family and never missed her grandchildren's sports events. On September 1, 2022, Delores pass away at her home in Jefferson, Oregon surrounding by her family. Delores was preceded in death by her beloved son, Cary (Boog) Burleson; parents, Ralph and Dorcas Dunham; sisters, Lois (Pat) Earnest, Donella Thompson, Shirley Radford and brother, Roy (Sunny) Dunham. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, George Arnold Burleson;
children, Craig, Charla and Carla; her sisters, Mary Lou (Gordon)Bigler and Karen(Bob)Whitehead. She had 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed!
A celebration of Life and lunch will be held in her honor at Jefferson Community Center (107 N Main St, Jefferson, OR 97352) at 12-Noon on Sunday September 18th, 2022. We invite anyone who knew her to come and celebrate her life with us.
