Obituary for Dolores "Dee" Norgard

Dolores “Dee” Norgard was born on November 19, 1934 in Adel, Iowa to Forrest and Doris Hooper, she was an only child. In the 1940’s her family moved out west where they settled in Scoggins Valley and Forest Grove, Oregon. She met and married James Steuart and moved to Denison, Iowa where they were blessed with two children, Mary and Mike. They divorced and Dee moved back to Oregon to be close to her parents. Later she met Edward Norgard and they married on June 23, 1993. They lived all over Oregon including Scappoose, LaPine, Portland and most recently Lyons. While they lived in Portland and Scappose they lived in a float house and then a boat. Dee could not swim and was afraid of water but truly enjoyed that lifestyle. Ed and Dee would travel all over the United States in their motorhome. Before Dee became ill they became snowbirds traveling to Yuma, Arizona every winter where they met many nice people and made lasting friendships. Through her life Dee worked for a plumbing store, clothing store and later Fred Meyer where she worked at their corporate office in Portland doing accounting work. She eventually left Fred Meyer to join her husband at their boat hauling business. Dee did all the office work including answering the phones, accounting and working with customers. She was great with people and incredibly outgoing but also had a witty sense of humor. Dee was also known for her collection of chicken figurines that she collected in all styles and designs, she loved her chickens. But most of all, Dee loved her family. She passed away on March 27, 2019 in Stayton, Oregon at age 84. She leaves behind her husband, Edward; children, Mary Sewell and Mike Steuart; step children, Kim Kloft, Kraig Norgard and Kelly Taylor; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A celebration of life will take place at a later date, please check back for further information.
