Donald Crawford Hinkley was born March 31, 1944 on a rock by the Little Salmon River in Idaho, toMerle and Mildred (Hoxie) Hinkley. Don grew up to be a hardworking man; he worked in masonryfor 8 years in Payette Idaho, he worked at Green Veneer from 1974 to 1998 when the mill closed. Don enjoyed staying busy so he never really retired, he would help his son in law Terry at his farmand was the handyman at Detroit Market. He married Lois “Jean” Sternberg on February 25,1964 they just celebrated 56 years of marriage. They had 2 children Lyndia {Terry} Basl of Stayton and son Donald “Grinner” Hinkley of Salem.They were blessed with a beautiful family. They moved to Idanha Oregon in 1974 and made it their home, they loved living there. Don enjoyed his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, his extended family and the mountain family. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and family gatherings. He had a wonderful heart. So, it was never a surprise if someone was inneed, he was there ready to give someone a helping hand. He was also good at drawing, building thingsand keeping his hummingbirds fed. He is preceded in death by his parents Merle and Mildred Hinkley, siblings Rita Shaw, Walter “Ike” Hinkley, Patricia Rogers, Virginia Weygent, and David Hinkley. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Jean Hinkley,daughter Lyndia [Terry] Basl of Stayton, son Donald ‘Grinner’ Hinkley of Salem, Brother Albert Hinkley of Weiser, Idaho, grandchildren Nick [Bri] Rickard of Hillsboro. Alys Ammon {Ernie} of Gates, Tony Ammon of Pendleton, Christina Hinkley of Salem, BoeDon Hinkley of Salem; great-grandchildren Adam {Brandy] Calhoun, Mason Rickard, Hollis Rickard, Lillian Rickard; great grandchildren Carmyn and Kayden Calhoun. In addition to many family members including his extended family and mountain family. A heartfelt thank you to the Hedge family for all your love and support.
