Donald Higgins

Donald Rodger Higgins was born on June 6, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Clyde and Georgia (Ward) Higgins. Donald moved around the country a lot as a child as his father was the fire chief on military bases.  On Jan 15, 1954 at the age of 17 Donald entered the United Stated Marine Corps and served until being honorably discharged at the rank of PFC.  He met the mother of his children while serving and after being discharged, he moved the family to the Oregon Coast.  Later in 1978, he moved to Albany where he would spend the rest of his life.  Donald had a passion for carpentry.  He did everything from small projects to building houses.  This skill was observed and passed on to his children and even his grandchildren.  He was an eclectic collector and loved fishing, being on the ocean was a tremendous joy for him.  On September 19, 2019 Donald passed away in Salem, Oregon.  He was preceded in death by his Wife Mary Lou, his Parents Clyde and Georgia; Children James and Donald; and Brother Arthur.   He is survived by his Wife Virginia; Children Wendy, Edith, Gregory, and Mary; 17 Grandchildren and 24 Great-grandchildren.
