Edwin Dennis Wallace

February 1, 1949 April 17, 2016

Stayton, Oregon

Dennis was born in Vernonia, Oregon, the first born child of Edwin and Esther Wallace. He graduated from Columbia Adventist Academy in Battleground, Washington and continued his education at Oregon State University. Dennis met Deborah Jayne Hillman at Walla Walla College. They were married in Salem, Oregon on August 10, 1969. They made their home in Stayton and had four daughters.

Dennis followed in his father’s footsteps. He owned and operated a log trucking business, D & D Inc., for many years. Later, he drove for Freres Lumber until he retired in 2012, after 45 years in the logging industry.

Dennis enjoyed hunting and fishing, ATVs, RVs, boating, antique cars and starting do-it-yourself projects.

He was a devoted son, husband, brother and father with a ready smile and endless supply of wit and practical jokes. Dennis had a gift of relating to others. He never met a stranger he didn’t know. He was a life-long member of the Stayton SDA Church.

He was preceded in death by Debe, his wife of 45 years; his father Ed; and his brother Lance.

Surrounded by his daughters, Dennis passed away at the age of 67. He will be greatly missed by his mother, Esther Wallace; his daughters, Heidi Morgan, Cyndi (Rich) Forrester, Shawna (Ron) Iverson and Angela (Jeremy) Beam; his siblings, Michael (Sheryl) Wallace, Sandra (Jay) Luepton and Belinda (Dan) Wanner; and 8 grandchildren, Kyler, Kolby, Samantha, Emma, Cameron, Sophia, Olivia and Aiden.

Viewing to be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 9am-12pm at Weddle Funeral Chapel. Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Stayton Seventh Day Adventist Church. Private interment to take place in Belcrest Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services.
