Eugenia Alexandria Ames better known as Jeanie was born on November 4, 1939 in West Rutland, Vermont to Eugene and Helen (Sankowski) Johnson.

She attended school in Vermont and eventually met Wayland Porter. They would marry and had 5 children together. Wayland was brought to Oregon to work on the Green Peter Dam and eventually decided to bring Jeanie and the kids to follow in 1963. They made their home in Brownsville, Oregon where Jeanie became a real estate agent.
