Gerald R. Waterman

Gerald R. Waterman Dec. 2, 1933 April 14, 2018 Gerald R. Waterman passed away peacefully April 14, 2018 surrounded by family at the age of 84 in Stayton, Ore. Gerald was born Dec. 2, 1933 in Longmont, Colo., to Don and Minnie (Brock) Waterman. After graduating from Coquille High School, Gerald worked at Coquille Plywood until he joined the United States Army in 1956. He was honorably discharged in 1962. He married Elaine Robertson Oct. 1, 1954 and they were happily married for 63 ½ years. For 30 years of his life, Gerald worked for the Coos County Road Department, he and Elaine lived in Coquille until retirement where they moved to the Willamette Valley in 1996. Gerald loved to go fishing on the Coquille River and even until he passed would ask, “Do you still have my fishing pole?” He was an avid wood worker, who made wooden chests, windmills and even wood tulips. Gerald also was active playing softball with family. Through his entire retirement he enjoyed staying active, spending time with his family and was always there for his family in whatever way he could be. Anyone who knew Gerald knew he was a great man. He was preceded in death by his baby daughter, Diane. He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine; son, Donnie (Tracy) Waterman; daughter, Debi (Doug) Thorpe; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
