Harry Stephen Mcmasters

Harry Stephen McMasters was born December 12, 1951, in Modesto, California, to Pauline Estely Leigh. He grew up in California, and as an adult moved in and out of Oregon and spent time in Arizona as well. Harry met Diane Davenport through friends and the two fell in love and married. They had two children together and were married 16 years before they amicably ended the marriage. Always the life of the party, one of the most memorable things about Harry was his storytelling ability and vivid imagination. He endeared himself to others easily and made friends wherever her went. Harry was known to bring someone home he just met if they needed a place to stay or help of some kind that he could offer. He had such a big heart and was generous with whatever he had. Harry was incredibly talented at just about anything artistic. He once created a jewelry box with moving parts out of popsicle sticks. He forged metal swords and fashioned handles for them. Harry could paint and draw as well, and always was into many kinds of woodworking. He also loved camping and fishing and being out in nature. Traveling was another thing Harry loved to do, and he was able to see much of the United States, visiting family whenever he could. As much as Harry loved his children, becoming a grandfather was something else. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and was a wonderful grandpa. The last four years of his life, Harry lived in Stayton, Oregon, with his son. He would zip around the small town on his scooter, making new friends along the way as always. After battling health issues for many years, Harry passed away peacefully at his home on May 12, 2021, with his children by his side. He was preceded in death by his mom and siblings Opal, Jay, Charles, and Marilyn. Harry is survived by his children Steven McMasters and Jana (Michael) Poppenhagen; stepdaughter Merrissa; grandchildren Alexandria, Aria, Vence, Brandon, and Chris; and siblings TJ and Francis.
