Obituary for James Bruce Gordon Jr.

James Bruce Gordon Jr.

June 8, 1939 November 29, 2015

Salem, Oregon

SALEM Bruce was born to James and Edna Gordon in Pendleton, Oregon. The family moved to Portland, and then to the Santiam Canyon, where Bruce was raised, graduating from Mill City High School in 1957. He graduated from Salem Technical-Vocational School, and married Camille Goble in 1961.

Bruce took a job with IBM, and he and Camille moved to Southern California. After a few years they returned to Oregon to be closer to family. Bruce loved his job, and spent the next 40 years with IBM as a Customer Engineer repairing mainframe computer systems. During that time he was awarded an unheard of 9 Service Awards of Excellence.

Bruce could fix anything, mechanical or electrical, and was known as Superman to his family because he was the one you called in an emergency. Bruce loved camping, hunting, and fishing; but most of all he loved his family. Some of his familys favorite memories are of summer camping trips at Suttle Lake and fall hunting trips in the Ochocos.

Bruce is survived by his wife Camille Gordon; his son Kermit (Robin) Gordon of Salem; his son Robert Gordon of Salem; and his daughter Erika (Kevin) Moore of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by his three beloved grandchildren, Bryce Gordon and Kathlien and Hayden Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Edna; his sisters Edna Walker and Mary Wright; and his brother Robert Gordon.

A viewing will be held from 12:00-5:00 Friday, December 4th at Weddle Funeral Services in Stayton. Services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, December 5th.

Arrangements entrusted to Weddle Funeral Service.
