Dr. James D. Crum, born July 29th, 1930 in Ironton, Ohio passed away on May 5th 2018 in Sublimity, Oregon. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anne Crum, and his three children, Leslie, James Jr. and Jennifer (Rick), all from the Salem area. Dr. Crum devoted a lifetime to teaching organic chemistry and retired as Dean of Natural Sciences at CSUSB in 1992 after 18 years. He enjoyed all aspects of the wine industry and as an International Wine Master he continued travelling the world as an educator. He climbed 20 mountains over 10,000 feet all over the world, and enjoyed taking his family hiking and backpacking. He also spent a lifetime collecting stamps and started Enophilatelica, a national topical wine on stamps group. His last four years were spent with his family in the Salem area. Per his wishes, no service will be held and his ashes will be scattered in his beloved mountains. His family is very grateful for the loving care he received at Marian Estates this past year. Cremation was handled by Weddle Funeral Service in Stayton. The family requests that you remember Jim by making a gift in his name to support CSUSB, the university he loved so much.
