Janet Lee Curtis Profile Photo

Janet Lee Curtis was born September 5, 1955, in Stayton, Oregon, to Gene and Patricia (Wright) McClellan. She grew up in the Mill City area where she graduated from high school. She met Joe Curtis in Mill City, and although each would claim the other was the one smitten, they both knew that they were meant to be together. They eventually married and raised three children together.  Janet spent her life living in different places throughout the Willamette Valley and Santiam Canyon. Joe and their two sons loved to go camping, fishing, hunting, and riding 4-wheelers, and Janet always wanted to be wherever they were. The family spent a lot of time together enjoying the outdoors.  Although Janet held several odd jobs, she always gravitated back toward working at the cannery. She was a reserved and introverted person, but also a bit of a free spirit and a wanderer. Janet called many places home, and had safe havens all over the area where she could spend time.  But always, Joe was her love and her family was everything to her.  Janet loved animals and had many pets over the years, and most recently her best friend was her cat Titi, who has been lovingly adopted in her absence. She also loved to journal, and left many written treasures as a legacy for her family.  Janet had an eclectic taste in music from her country favorites like Dwight Yoakam, George Straight, and Garth Brooks, to 80’s rock like Guns N’ Roses – and she could dance to any of it like no one else! And anyone that knew her knew that she loved her Coca-Cola and Red Vines.  Janet was preceded in death by her son Joe Curtis, her parents, and her sisters Debbie and Donna. She will be deeply missed by her “ride or die” Joe Curtis; her children Jodi (Paul) Leimbach and Jeremy Curtis; and grandchildren Jonathan Leimbach, Jenna Leimbach, Jordan Leimbach, Jessica Leimbach, and Hayden Curtis. A family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Janet’s name be made to the American Heart Association.
