Obituary for John Barnes Kautenberg

John Barnes Kautenberg was born on September 12, 1941 in Chehalis, Washington to Walter and Margaret (Weed) Kautenberg. John moved to Canada for a short time as his family owned a saw mill in British Columbia. This is where he met the love of his life, Jane Deacon. Jane found her future husband kind but also intelligent. They married in 1961 and together they were blessed with three children, Diane, Michael and Lisa. All three of their children were born in Grand Forks, North Dakota. John honorably served his country in the United States Navy and spent many years in Civil Service. He and his family would live all over due to his military career. After being honorably discharged, he would work for the F.A.A. maintaining and supervising high site radar along mountain tops to help guide planes. John was technically smart and could fix anything. Throughout his life John loved electronics, computers, fishing and hunting. He was also a huge dog lover; John had a special bond with his Australian Shepherd. In 1995 after a wonderful and long career, he and Jane fell in love with Mill City, Oregon where they decided to retire. Throughout his life, John would be regarded as smart, hardworking and a loving father and husband. On April 23, 2019, John passed away in Stayton, Oregon at age 77. He is survived by his wife, Jane Kautenberg; children, Diane Spiva, Michael Kautenberg, Lisa (Randy) McLendon; sister, Marion Lindbergh; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Per his request no services will be held. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Disabled Veterans of America. Weddle Funeral Service entrusted with arrangements.
