Obituary for Joyce Mary Baker

Woodburn- Joyce Mary Maddock was born to Thomas and Mary Maddock on March 7, 1927 in Cheshire England. She met James Charles Hutchens, an American GI at a dance in England during WWII. They would soon be married in Knutsford, England. After the war ended the couple moved to the United States with their first-born daughter Christine Barbara. Joyce and Christine came to New York by ship. From New York they took a train to San Bernardino, CA. Jim and Joyce lived in multiple homes throughout California where they had 6 more children. In 1963 The family moved to Oregon where Joyce managed a Salvation Army store for many years. The couple would again move to several locations throughout Oregon. Joyce's first husband and father to all her children died in 1970. A couple years later she married Delmer Dale Baker. They spent their first years of marriage in Idaho. They moved back to Oregon in 1975. They would then move to California where they managed a mobile and RV park, then back to Oregon where (Dale) her 2nd husband passed away in 2012. Joyce's love of moving stemmed from the fact that she lived in one home her entire youth. Besides the love of moving, Joyce loved to dance, play piano, read, knit, and cook. She loved people and there was always an extra (or more) sitting around her table.

Joyce leaves behind 7 children.
