Kimberly Mae Hughes was born July 23, 1963, in Albany, Oregon, to James E. and Donna Jean (Webber) Sullivan. She grew up with an older brother and a younger sister. The family lived in the Brooks area and Kim graduated from Gervais High School. She was the first girl born into the family in many years, so she was a grandpa’s girl and he loved to dote on her. Kim loved to go fishing with her grandpa. Kim worked in maintenance for the retail industry. She was a hard worker and spend most of her time doing so. Kim moved to Florida in the 90’s and absolutely loved it there. She enjoyed the sunny weather and being near the beach. She stayed in Florida for more than 20 years until she became ill and moved back to Oregon to be near family. Kim was a warm and loving person and everyone that met her fell in love with her – she truly had a heart of gold. She was always doing things for others and putting herself last. Kim also loved animals and always had pets, her last little dog Benji was with her almost til the end, and he is being cared for by a loving family in her absence. Kim lost her valiant battle with cancer on May 5, 2019, with her sister Merrie by her side. The family would like to say a special thank you to Serenity Hospice and the staff at Dallas Retirement Village for the excellent care they provided to Kim. Kim was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her sister Merrie (Adrian) Martinez, brother Evan (Debbie) Sullivan, nephews Andrew and Aaron, nieces Britteny and Ashley, great nieces Kirianna and Alivia whom she loved dearly, step-mother Arlene Sullivan, and step-father John Petersen. To honor Kim's request, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kimberly’s name to Serenity Hospice, 6444 Fairway Ave SE, Salem, OR 97306.
