Linda Marlene Conrad was born February 26, 1950, in Los Angeles, California, to Wilbur Neal and Mary Elizabeth (Wood) Conrad. She grew up in southern California and as a young adult settled in Lake Elsinore, California, and raised one daughter, Jennifer. In 1993, when Jennifer was a sophomore in high school, both mother and daughter were looking for a change and headed north to Oregon. They settled first in Elmira, then moved towards the coast to Toledo, before ending up in the Salem area. They also spent a couple of years up in Alaska. Eventually the two settled in the Mill City area. Linda was an artist and always dreamed of making a living through her creativity. She could paint, draw, sew, make cards, create ceramics, and basically just create any type of craft. Linda took her creations to Saturday markets and festivals to sell. But making a living as an artist can be difficult, so Linda took odd jobs like house cleaning, store window painting, and office work. Linda was a very loving and caring person, a free spirit in tune with nature and a lover of animals. She always had pets in her home and loved them all. Linda lost her courageous battle with cancer at home on May 27, 2019. She will be dearly missed by her daughter Jennifer Conrad.
