Marilyn J. (Davis) Mckibben

Aumsville- Marilyn Jean McKibben was born on July 9, 1938, in her grandparents’ farmhouse, outside of South Haven, Michigan to Max and Elsie (Ridley) Covey.  She was raised in Michigan and attended grade and high school there.  After high school, she would eventually attend Glendale Community College in Arizona and Chemeketa Community College in Oregon.  Marilyn moved to Oregon in the early 1980’s and would eventually go to work for the Oregon Department of Revenue from where she would retire in 2011.  She was an avid volunteer and enjoyed helping at the foodbank, Gleaners, volunteering with Cub and Boy Scouts, as a youth sports coach, and senior peer counselor.  She had a caring heart and was not timid about sacrificing for others.  She frequently donated blood and even earned a plaque from two different states for donating twenty plus gallons in each.  While living in Arizona she worked to help special needs children.  She was always a safe place for children to be raised and she helped care for all her loved ones kids.  Her love for animals was enormous.  She enjoyed the outdoors.  She would rescue and heal orphaned and injured animals, as well as donate to the local humane society in memory of her children who had passed.  She donated time and money to many other causes as well; especially veterans and childrens causes.  On January 30, 2021, Marilyn passed away in Salem, Oregon.  She was preceded in passing by her parents, Max and Elsie Covey; Brother, Marvin; Husband, Wilbur Stokes; Children Debra, Brian, Mark, and Shelley Stokes; Great-grandchildren Cody, and Nathan Dakota.  She is survived by her siblings, Kathryn, Jimmy, and Linda; children, Kim Ellis, Wade (Erica) Davis, and Carl Ellis; Grandchildren, Nathan, Terrell “Dieux”, Asher, and Zipporah; Great-grandchildren Anthony, Kayla, and Isabella; Great-great grandchildren, Amelia, Serenity, and Selena. There are also far too many “adopted” family members to list.  In lieu of flowers please take the opportunity to donate to a meaningful charity in Marilyn’s name or take the time to donate your time.  Either way would honor her memory.
