Obituary for Megan Raina Johnson

Megan Raina Johnson was born on March 14th, 1987 in Salem, Oregon at the original Salem Hospital building located off Center Street. She was born to Ingo Johnson and Donna Hurless. Megan attended Mary Eyre Elementary School in Salem, Mari-Linn School in Lyons, and Stayton High School. Growing up she loved collecting rocks and playing with frogs and salamanders. Megan liked experimenting with her style including creative and unique hairstyles. Being creative was one of her best gifts.

Whatever Megan touched became beautiful and she could accomplish so much with her hands. Whether it was drawing, sewing a purse, or sculpting from clay, she had a tremendous gift to make beautiful things. She was wildly creative and had a free spirit, these assets made her unique. Later she would make the decision to follow in her father’s footsteps and join the United States Army where she would proudly serve her country. During her military career she was an Avionics Mechanic. She did her National Guard duty in Pendleton then Salem. Eventually, Megan would be honorably discharged from the Army.

She lived all over the Willamette Valley including Salem, Lyons, Tigard, Stayton, Aumsville, Beaverton, and Mill City. She worked at Alexia's Window Tinting, Harbor Freight, and Freres Lumber. She never minded a “nontraditional” job for a woman. She liked jobs where she could work hard and keep busy which was perfect for her get-it-done sort of personality. She was a meticulous worker who made sure that whatever she did was the very best and never liked idle hands at work.

Megan never liked to be the center of attention and would tend to be quiet and reserved. But catch her at the right time and she could be tremendously funny. But the one quality that truly stood out about Megan was her genuinely kind heart. She never had bad intentions and always wanted the best for others.

On June 1st, 2020 Megan passed away at age 33 in Mill City, Oregon. She is dearly loved and will always be remembered for so many of her wonderfully special qualities.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mary Ann Hurless, Rosmarie Johnson, Jeanette Hurless, Dean Hurless; great uncle, Stan Klupenger; and her beloved Shar-Pei, China.

She is survived by her partner of over 5 years, Chris Cranston; mother, Donna Hurless; father, Ingo Johnson (Janis Gzik); sister, Alyssa (Tyler) Cardwell; grandfather, Vernon Johnson; aunts, Deanna Hurless, Yvonne Daniels; uncle, Roy Johnson; and stepfathers Bob Bush and Bryan Smith.
