Idanha - Michael Allen Malone was born December 15, 1964, in Eugene, Oregon. The son of Orvan Charles and Rita Louise (Hadley) Malone, he grew up with one sister in the La Grande area. The family loved the outdoors and spent time together hunting, fishing and camping. After graduating from La Grande Senior High School, Michael went on to the Job Corps at White Swan, WA. There he learned to operate heavy equipment. After leaving Job Corps, he returned home to live with and help his mother and would remain with her until her passing. Michael held a few different jobs over the years including operating heavy equipment, logging, working as a diesel mechanic, and working maintenance for the city. He also spent many years as a volunteer for the Idanha/Detroit fire department. Although he was friendly and got along with everyone, Michael lived a simple and solitary life with his faithful companion, a Siberian Husky named Genna. His love of the outdoors carried through his whole life and he especially loved fishing and would go as much as possible. Michael was preceeded in death by his father Orvan in 1978, and his mother Rita in 1999. He is survived by his sister Kelly (Dennis) Lucas, niece Katelynn Lucas, nephew Alexander Lucas, and grand-nieces Alexis and Eva. Michael will be laid to rest at Cove Cemetery in Cove, Oregon, with other family members. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Detroit Community Church in Detroit, Oregon, on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at 11 AM with a meal following the service at the Detroit Fire Hall.
