Obituary for Orville "Ray" Busby

Orville “Ray” Busby passed away on February 5, 2021, at the age of 93. He was born December 30, 1927, in Hale, Colorado, to Charles and Amy Busby. Ray came to Oregon with his family when he was 13 years old and has lived in the Aumsville area for over 80 years.

Ray served two years in the US Army, serving his country in the United States and in France. He was employed by the State of Oregon in the Printing Division for 35 years, retiring in 1982. Ray also served on his local Aumsville Fire Dept. as a volunteer for 20 years and as a director on the Aumsville Fire Dept. Board of Directors for 34 years.

Ray was an avid golfer and spent many years playing at Santiam Golf Club where he was a member. Everyone knew his love for golf, and all his family played. His wife Janet, his three children, son-in-law Corey, and grandsons Chris and Gregory enjoyed playing the game with him.

Ray was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a respected member of his community and a good friend to many. Ray was preceded in death by his older brother Lewis and his sister Louise Rowan. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janet; daughter Pamela (Corey) Lackaff of green Valley, Arizona; son Gregory (Gina) of Surprise, Arizona; son Steven of Aumsville; 4 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

There will be a private family graveside memorial service this summer.
