Rex Douglas Miller was born November 28, 1945, in Astoria, Oregon, to Walter and Germaine (Thill) Miller. When Rex was very young, the family moved to Nebraska before moving back to Oregon and settling permanently in Stayton Oregon. Rex attended Stayton High School and then joined the Marine Corps, serving four years in Vietnam. When he returned home, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration through the GI Bill from Southern Oregon State College. Rex worked as a roofer, as a Purchasing Manager for Montgomery Ward then settled into a 25-plus year career working for the Department of Human Services before retiring in 2002. Rex had two children, a son and a daughter. He loved his children and spending time with them camping and sharing his love of motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides and waverunners over the years. He especially enjoyed trips to the Oregon coast dunes, Glamis California dunes and the Yuma Arizona desert.In 2000, Rex met Tracey and the two fell in love. The couple married in 2012 and enjoyed retirement and snow-birding to Yuma, Arizona, each winter. They remained at each other’s sides until Rex passed away at home on January 28, 2021, at the age of 75.Rex was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tom Miller. He is survived by wife Tracey; children Jeff (Cheryl) Miller and Andrea (Mike Counts) Miller; stepchildren Dustin (Ariday) O’Donnell and Morgan (Mark) Iliyn; granddaughters Hailey Miller and Penelope Iliyn; siblings Jay (Cindy) Miller, Nick (Sue) Miller, Ramona Miller, Rebecca (Dean) Glover, Fred (Nui) Miller and numerous nieces and nephews.
