Shirley  Anne Welding-Randall

September 3, 1940 – August 1, 2010
Salem, Oregon

Shirley Randall was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. The daughter of Harry and Lenore Waggoner.

Following her graduation from Grant high school she wed her high school sweetheart in 1959.  Their union produced two children, Kim and Ronald.  Her active life included a range of jobs from advertising, to Dr’s. Assistant and traveling social work where she advocated and helped many people.  She found her niche after a return to Portland State college and subsequent degree and she spent the next thirty years employed by the State of Oregon.  She held a variety of positions some of which were safety officer, social work, and judicial judge.  Her latter years brought her the eventual true love she always seemed meant for in Robert Garland Randall.  On October 24, 1983 they were joined and built their life together in Salem.  They left the city with Robert’s retirement.  Shirley retired in 2006 following the death of Robert on March 3rd.  Shirley’s life passions included family, animal welfare, and a deep love and kinship with horses.  She trained countless race horses throughout the western states, it was her most loved work and brought her much joy. She will be missed immensely by all who were blessed to have their live touched by her.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Irene Tetman of Stayton; son, Ronald Lowell VanHorn of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; Sister, Bette Irene Lawson of Minnesota; grandchildren, Dustin  Vandehey, James VanHorn and Ivy & Mitchell Tetman; and 9 great grandchildren.

A Service will be held on Shirley’s Birthday September 3, 2010
