Obituary for Terri Lou Kilby

Terri Lou Kilby was born May 3, 1956, in Summersville, West Virginia, to Harry F. and Mary Alice (McPherson) Altman. She grew up in California, graduating from Oceana High School in Pacifica. Throughout her school years she studied dance and after high school taught dance for a little while before she married Robert Kilby on September 27, 1975. Robert was a welding inspector for nuclear power plants and his job took him all over the country. Terri and Robert loved this wandering life, living in their motor home and moving on to a new place and a new adventure every few months or so.

Terri worked as a bartender at times and was incredibly good at her job, welcoming guests with a warm smile and taking a sincere interest in what they had to say. She was very empathetic, happy, and friendly. When Robert changed careers, he and Terri moved to the Fox Valley Farms near Lyons, Oregon, where his family lived. They loved their life on the farm and were very close with Robert’s family. Terri and Robert were partners with Warren and Suzi as owners of Tannenbaum Enterprises, Fox Valley Fish Hatchery and Fox Valley Farms, a specialty mushroom Farm. They retired in 2001 from farming.

Although Terri was friendly and enjoyed people, she was always more of a homebody, spending most of her time taking care of her home and husband. She liked to garden and did some sewing, beadwork, and embroidery on occasion. Terri loved animals and always had cats and dogs as companions when she was home. She was also an avid NASCAR fan and loved true crime dramas. Terri was a charter member of the Women of the Moose Stayton Chapter and a current member of the Allheart Chapter

On November 15, 2020, Terri passed away at their home in Lyons. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, parents Harry and Mary, and her brother David. She is survived by her brothers Ken (Ann) Altman and Erik Altman and Robert’s family brother Warren (Suzi) Kilby.
