The family of Alan Preston Tuers announces his passing on May 15, 2018. Alan died after battling complications from COPD. Alan was born to Arlo and Mary Tuers on December 5, 1940. He spent his youth in Mill City and graduated in 1959 from Santiam High School. After a year of attendance at Oregon State University he got married to Ellen Keller (divorced in 1976) and returned to Mill City to work and raise his family. He worked for many years at Frank Lumber Company. Later he purchased a dump truck to become an independent contractor. Finally he finished his professional work as a heavy construction employee. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union. Alan has 3 children. Kimberly (Tuers) Meyers married to Edwin Meyers of Parkdale, OR. Tamara (Tuers) Sirmon married to Thaddeus Sirmon of Walla Walla, WA. Darrin Tuers married to Barbara Tuers of Molalla, OR. Alan also has 8 grandchildren. Grandpa will always be remembered for sending the best birthday cards full of $2 dollar bills or lottery tickets. He is also survived by his brothers Bruce Tuers of Mill City, Roger Tuers of Salem, and Frank Tuers of Mill City. Alan served as a volunteer fireman for Mill City for several years. He was also a past member of the Historical Society. The family is planning a memorial service June 1, 2018 from 1-3 at Santiam Eagles 640 SW Broadway in Mill City. Private burial will be held at Fox Valley Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mill City Volunteer Fire Department
