Billy Ray Griffith, a spirited outdoorsman, devoted family man, and lifelong music lover, passed away on June 22nd, 2025 . He was born on February 11, 1930, in Shady Point, Oklahoma, to Jewel Irene (Davidson) Griffith and Jesse Hunter Griffith.

In 1947, Billy married the love of his life, Betty Jo Mangrem, in Arkansas. Their partnership marked the beginning of a lifelong journey filled with adventure, resilience, and unwavering devotion. Together, they made homes across the American West—New Mexico, California, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska—before settling once more in Oregon in 2000.

Billy was a man who embraced life with both hands. He was most at peace with a fishing rod in hand or deep in the woods, pursuing game with the hunting dogs he bred and raised himself. He took pride in his self-reliance and cherished the quiet joy of cooking a hearty meal, sipping a glass of whiskey, or sharing a beer of his own making with good company.

On September 1, 1996, Billy was baptized at Scio Baptist Church, affirming the faith that would carry him through his later years with grace.

He worked hard, played hard, and loved fiercely. Billy is survived by his brother Charles, sisters JoAnn and Audrey; his daughter Kathy (Jimmie); and his daughter-in-law Ginger. He leaves behind his grandchildren Eric (Kassie), Craig (Kristin), Alison, John (Margot), and Raymond (Reneé); 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild—with two more soon to be welcomed into the world.

Billy now joins in rest his beloved wife Betty Jo, his parents, his brother Buck, and his son Danny. He will be remembered not only for his tenacity and humor, but for the warmth he brought to those around him.
