Obituary

Bonnie Sue Orr, born February 28, 1942, in Torrance, California, passed away peacefully in Keizer, Oregon, on April 12, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of Dorothy Josephine Dauser and Jack Courtland Bonser, and the eldest of three children.

Bonnie grew up in southern California, where she formed lifelong bonds with her siblings and developed the warm, openhearted nature that would define her life. Family was always at the center of who she was. She cherished every moment spent with the people she loved, and she saved every card, letter, and photograph she received. They were small treasures that reflected the importance she placed on connection, memory, and affection.

Bonnie had a joyful appreciation for the simple pleasures of life. She loved shopping, especially for clothes, and she had a soft spot for animals; particularly cats and the squirrels she delighted in feeding at Bush Park. She enjoyed outings and day trips, whether exploring the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport or visiting the Willamette Heritage Center in Salem. Wherever she went, she brought kindness, curiosity, and a gentle enthusiasm that made even ordinary days feel special. A naturally friendly and generous woman, Bonnie made friends easily. Her sweet spirit, thoughtful nature, and willingness to give of herself left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Bonnie is survived by her siblings William "Bill" Bonser and Cindy Tarrant; her children Deborah Maina, Barbara Merkel, Donna Alexander, and Gerald Orr; and her grandchildren Jerame Hein, Stephanie Bender, Chris Goodwin, Tawnya Alexander, Michael Alexander, Stephen Merkel, and Jennifer Merkel. She is also survived by her great‑granddaughters Amelia (Millie) Alexander and Eleanor (Nora) Alexander. She will be deeply missed by her niece Kelly Cleveland, her nephew Travis Tarrant, and her grandnieces and grandnephews Riley Cleveland, Abby Cleveland, Maggie Cleveland, Dillinger Tarrant, and Griffin Tarrant, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Bonnie's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and love. She will be remembered for her gentle presence, her warm smile, and the way she made others feel valued simply by being herself. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and in the many small acts of love she left behind.
