Obituary

Brian Guy Baker, born November 8, 1978, in Portland, Oregon, to Vicky Kennedy and Dwaine Baker, left this world far too soon on March 29, 2026. Though his time here was shorter than anyone wished, he filled his years with devotion, hard work, humor, and a love that left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.

Brian grew up in the West Linn area, where he graduated from West Linn High School. It was during these early years that a chance introduction through mutual friends led him to meet Sondra at a Subway restaurant. Brian often said he "knew she was the one" from the very start, calling her his "soul mate" with a sincerity that never faded. They were married on June 7, 2008, in Aurora, Oregon, but their life together spanned more than 25 years of shared dreams, challenges, and unwavering commitment.

Together, Brian and Sondra built both a family and a business. They owned and operated Brian Baker Trucking, first in Woodburn for ten years and then in Aumsville for another decade. Brian purchased his first truck from his parents, and from that beginning he and Sondra worked side by side, partners in every sense, creating a successful company and a loving home. The trucking community became an extended family to Brian, and he was known as someone who would lend a hand, offer advice, or show up when someone needed support.

Brian was a proud and devoted father to his two sons, Mason and Chase. He was a gentle parent, patient and steady, always striving to give his boys the best of himself. His love for them was evident in the way he taught, encouraged, and guided them, and in the quiet pride he carried for who they were becoming.

A true blue‑collar American, Brian loved to fix things, improve them, and make them work better than before. He could often be found working on his trucks, installing stereo systems, or tackling projects around the house. He enjoyed collecting Nike Air Jordan shoes, each pair a small reflection of his personality and style. Brian was a "yes man" in the best sense, someone who wanted to make life easier, happier, and lighter for the people around him.

His faith was an important part of his life. Brian loved Jesus and gave his heart to the Lord in his twenties, carrying that belief with him through every season of life. He was witty and quick with a wisecrack, using humor to soften hard moments and bring comfort where it was needed most.

Brian is survived by his beloved wife Sondra, and his cherished sons Mason and Chase, his sister Adrienne, and his parents, Vicky and Dwaine Baker in addition to many extended family members and friends.

Brian will be remembered for his loyalty, his work ethic, his kindness, and the way he showed up for others. He built friendships across the trucking industry and beyond, forming bonds rooted in respect, generosity, and shared experience. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the work he poured himself into, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
