Candace Lynn Buck was born August 31, 1947, in San Diego, California, to Edith Hadley and Clarence Buck. While attending high school, her love of art and music began. She played clarinet in the band and took art classes. After graduating from Santa Rosa High school, she attended Santa Rosa Junior College and worked as a nurse’s aide at Community Hospital. Before she was able to finish school, she started a family and decided to stay home with her children while they were young. Over the years, Candace worked many different jobs, but one that was especially meaningful to her was working as a self-taught software engineer developing project management software for Fortune 500 companies. Candace was incredibly intelligent, and always hungered for more. She loved film, and was a lifelong student of history. While generous, and friendly, she enjoyed her time alone where she could continue to learn and create. But what described Candace the best was artist. Throughout her entire adult life, much of her time was consumed with her artistic creativity – painting, drawing, and playing music on the piano and violin. Candace did sell some of her works, but many of her pieces of art were displayed in the home. She was always at her happiest with a paintbrush in hand. Surrounded by family, Candace passed away at home on September 10, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents. Candace is mother to Christina Echelberger, Jason Weber, Gretchen Weber, and Kimberly Larson; grandmother to Corey Gamboa, Edward Echelberger, Sherry Echelberger, and Xoshm Weber; great-grandmother to Nadia Gardner; and sister to Janice Whipkey.
