Carol Louise MacDowell, born July 16, 1948, in Coquille, Oregon, passed away on January 4, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and quiet strength. The daughter of Barbara Mullen and Thomas Basey, Carol grew up in the close‑knit communities of Coos County, where she formed lifelong values rooted in family, hard work, and simple joys.

A proud graduate of Myrtle Point High School’s Class of 1966, Carol continued her education at Southwestern Oregon Community College, majoring in business. Her strong work ethic and natural warmth guided her through a varied and fulfilling career. Over the years, she worked as a hostess, bookkeeper, retail clerk at Walmart and WinCo, and later as a billing clerk in the WinCo Transportation Department. She also embraced the adventure of entrepreneurship as co‑owner of Two Macs Transport, a role that brought her across the country and into the lives of countless people along the way.

Carol found joy in the everyday moments that made life rich. She loved road trips, whether short coastal drives or long cross‑country hauls. She was an avid reader and cherished time spent playing card and board games with family. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of her cooking and baking, and her home reflected her love of snowman figurines and wall hangings collected over the years. She enjoyed crocheting, Hallmark movies, classic cars, country music, NASCAR, and the fun of lottery games. As the devoted wife of a long‑haul trucker, she embraced the unique rhythm of that life—the stories, the people, and the adventures that came with it.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her brother, Lyle Basey; her husband, Glenn MacDowell; her children, Kelly Blehm and Penny Allen; her beloved grandchildren, Maycee Swader, Thomas Allen, Vanessa Andrade, Victoria Andrade, and Samantha Andrade; and sister Hope. Each of them carries forward her love, her humor, and the countless memories she created with them.

Carol’s life was one of quiet devotion—to her family, to her work, and to the small joys that made each day meaningful. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
