Cathy May Wahl, age 47, passed away in her sister Penny’s arms on March 1, 2020 in Gates. Cathy was born on August 24, 1972 in Eugene, Oregon to William and Barbara (Edwards) Sheridan. Growing up, she spent her time in Oregon and Texas. She graduated from Grosebeck High School in Texas and began her career as a CNA and caregiver. Cathy was extremely close with her sister, Penny. They were often mistaken for twins! She loved her nieces and nephews, and she was like a mother to her niece Barbie. She was also an honorary grandmother to her 3 great nieces,and 3 great nephews, and loved to spoil them. Over the years, Cathy had many beloved furbabies and enjoyed dressing them up for the holidays, and throwing them birthday parties. Cathy had many passions and hobbies. She was a talented bead worker, and she loved making beautiful jewelry with her2 nieces. She also loved all kinds of music (from country to metal), dying her hair, piercings, azaleas, visiting the beach in Florence, and watching Grays Anatomy and the Walking Dead. Cathy will always be remembered for her caring, selfless and strong-willed nature. Her niece Barbie fondly recalls the time when they went to the movie theatre together, and the young guys in front of them were talking throughout the movie. Finally, Cathy got so fed up that she dumped her bucket of popcorn on their head, which resulted in a popcorn fight! Cathy’s other niece Mandi remembers a time when her Auntie Cathy moved to Texas when she was younger and was missing her so much that she sent Mandi a Special Package so full of Goodies that Mandi was so Excited she cried. She was unpredictable, but that was part of her charm. Before her passing, Cathy was able to receive a blessing on Friday. Her faith was important to her, and this final act brought her peace and comfort. Her family rejoices knowing that she will be reunited with her mother who preceded her in passing, and her beloved furbaby Grandma. Cathy is survived by her 5 siblings, Will, Mary, Glenn, Robert and Penny , and her beloved nieces and nephews , Great nieces, and nephews. Private services will be held at a later date, and she will be laid to rest in Eugene with her mother, Barbara. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
