Charleen LaVonne Williams, born June 18, 1952, in Eureka, California, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, in Stayton, Oregon. Her life was one of devotion. Devotion to her faith, to her family, and to the countless people whose lives she touched across the world.
Charleen was the daughter of Louie Edward Albin and Delores (Fournier) Albin, and from an early age she carried a fiery strength and a heart inclined toward service. That spirit deepened when she met the love of her life, Howard Levern Williams. The two were married on November 7, 1971, in Orleans, California, beginning a loving partnership.
Together, Charleen and Howard followed a calling that led them far beyond the places they had known. Through the Seventh‑day Adventist Church, Charleen served as a missionary in Bolivia, Colombia, and the Philippines, pouring her energy and compassion into communities in need. During her time in Bolivia, she served as a personal coordinator for the CERENID home for street boys, offering structure, encouragement, and motherly warmth to children who had few places to turn. Her work there remained one of the most meaningful chapters of her life.
Charleen’s talents were as varied as they were heartfelt. She started and managed thrift and discount food stores in Wrangell, Alaska, and Payette, Idaho, creating spaces that supported families and strengthened local communities. Later, while living in Michigan, she earned her realtor license. She also pursued home decorating, and taught preschool, bringing creativity and patience to every role she embraced.
Yet of all her endeavors, Charleen’s favorite and most cherished role was that of homemaker. She poured her love into her home and family, creating a place of comfort, faith, and belonging. Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life, and she nurtured them with the same devotion she offered to the world.
Charleen is survived by her beloved husband, Howard Levern Williams; her children, Sherry LaVonne Galvez and Andrew (Andy) Williams; and her treasured grandchildren, Anna Williams, Isabella Galvez, and Katalina Galvez. She is also survived by her brother, Darryl Albin, who shared the memories of their early years and the enduring bonds of family.
Charleen’s life was a testament to kindness, faith, and quiet courage. She leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and love that will continue to shine through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
