Cynthia “Cindy” Kathleen Etzel, born December 3, 1953, in Crescent City, California, passed away on July 28, 2026, in Salem, Oregon, surrounded by the love of those who cherished her.

Cindy grew up along the Northern California coast before eventually making her home in Oregon, where she built lasting friendships and a life filled with meaning. On September 22, 2006, she married Larry Etzel at Jefferson Baptist Church in Jefferson, Oregon, a day filled with joy and the promise of a shared future. Their marriage was a testament to companionship, faith, and unwavering support.

Throughout her life, Cindy formed countless friendships that became true extensions of her family. She had a gift for making people feel seen, valued, and welcomed, and her circle of loved ones reflected the warmth she carried into every room.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Violanda Mendoza; her brother David; her sister Gale; and her niece Alicia. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.

She is survived by her sister Lorelei and her brother Albert, as well as her children Jacob, Cassie, and Heather, who were her pride and joy. Cindy is further survived by her two step-children, Sarah and Melissa. Cindy also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Austin, Brandon, Olivia, Hunter, Skyler, Star, and Orion, each one a bright light in her life and a source of happiness.

Cindy will be remembered for her generous spirit, her steady compassion, and the way she embraced others as family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and in the love she gave so freely.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 22, 2026, from 12 PM to 3 PM at The Bridge, located at 835 N 2nd St, Jefferson, Oregon. All who knew and loved Cindy are invited to gather, share memories, and honor her beautiful life.
