Darhald Herrmann, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in Salem, Oregon on June 12, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born December 24, 1936, in White Fish, Montana, Darhald was the son of Lydia (Krukenberg) and Theophil Herrmann. He was one of nine children, growing up surrounded by six brothers and two sisters.

Darhald served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1957. After his military service, he went on to work as a proud ironworker with Local #29, dedicating over 30 years to the trade. Known for his strong work ethic and craftsmanship, he earned the respect and friendship of many in his field.

A long-standing member of the Elks Lodge and the Eagles, Darhald found great joy in the camaraderie and community these organizations provided. In his leisure time, he was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and hunting.

Darhald was the proud father of four children: Rick Herrmann, Desiree Herrmann, Ronald Herrmann, and Roy Herrmann. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Shaun, Delana, Austin, Tiara, Michael, Jordan, Joe, Grace, Emma, and sixteen great grandchildren, who will carry his memory forward with love. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings.

Darhald’s life was defined by dedication—to his family, his work, and his passions. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A service will be held in Darhald honor at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon on July 18, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. where he will be laid to rest.
