With great sorrow, we share with you that David Keith Black—beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend—passed away peacefully at home in Woodburn, Oregon, on May 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was just days away from his 70th birthday.
David was born on June 9, 1955, in Torrance, California, to Carol June Black and John Alton Black. He spent his early years in California before moving to Ashland, Oregon, in 1986.
David built a life of purpose, beauty, and love. He found joy in traveling, camping, enjoying coffee with his beloved wife on the patio while watching birds in their garden, roasting coffee, working on home and yard projects, playing music, building and creating, and most of all, spending time with those he loved.
David is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lenda Black; stepdaughter, Ariane Rakich; stepson, Ben Amstutz, and his fiancée, Shannon Saunders; his brothers, John Black (and wife Linda) and Michael Black; his sister, Wendy Black; his niece and three nephews. He also leaves behind two cherished grandsons, Ben and Jefferson Rakich, with whom he shared a special and profound bond. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carol June Black and John Alton Black, his mother-in-law, Nobuko Basl, and his stepson-in-law, Mylan Rakich.
Our family is grateful for your love and support during this time. Please keep us in your thoughts.
