Dave passed away on July 14, 2026. He was born on April 29, 1935 in Stayton, Oregon to Theresa (Toepfer) and John Anthony Zolkoske. He was raised in nearby Mehama with his two sisters and two brothers where he learned the values of hard work, family and friendship that guided him throughout his life. 

After graduating from Stayton High School in 1954 Dave attended Oregon Technical Institute, earning his credentials as an auto mechanic. He married his high school sweetheart Sandra (Davie) in July 1957, beginning a loving partnership that would span over 67 years.

In 1958 Dave was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed at Schofield Barracks on Oahu, Hawaii. While living there, he and Sandra welcomed their first child Brad. Though military life was challenging, they made the most of their time there, going to the beach and creating friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Following his military service Dave and Sandra returned to Stayton where they welcomed two daughters, Ann and Janet. Dave worked as an auto mechanic throughout his career. He dedicated many years to Philippi Ford, then later Stayton Ford where he would stay until his retirement in 1997.

Dave loved country music and treasured the times he could play guitar and sing with his brothers on a Friday night. He also enjoyed deer and elk hunting, fishing, and caring for his beautiful property on Fir Grove Lane. Whether tending the garden, working in the woods or meticulously maintaining the landscape, Dave took great pride in creating a place his family and friends could enjoy.

Retirement gave Dave more time for another favorite pastime - golf. He looked forward to rounds with his brothers, his son Brad, and many good friends, followed by a cold beer while everyone compared scores and shared stories. More than anything however, Dave treasured time with his family. Camping trips, holidays, birthdays and gatherings with his grandchildren brought him his greatest happiness and created memories they will carry with them always.

Dave will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his sense of humor, his love of music and the outdoors, and his deep devotion to family and friends. 

He is survived by his children Brad Zolkoske (Pam), Ann Dunsworth (Tom), and Janet Morrison (Bob); his grandchildren, Austin Dunsworth, Morgan Chung, Corey Stacey, Alex Morrison, and Katy Morrison; his sister, Rosella Child; and his brothers, Gary Zolkoske and Jim Zolkoske. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Zolkoske; his parents; and his sister, Evelyn Adams.

Dave's legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friendships he nurtured, and the lessons he passed on. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
