Douglas Russell Edwards, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, in Albany, Oregon, at the age of 72.
Born on May 16, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, Doug was the cherished son of Frances Kathleen Russell and Arthur James Edwards. He grew up in a close-knit family and carried with him a strong sense of integrity, kindness, and an open heart for others.
Doug dedicated more than 30 years of his life to his work as a journeyman millwright. A true craftsman, he took pride in his work and was known for his precision, reliability, and willingness to lend a hand. Whether on the job or in his community, Doug lived by the belief that everyone deserved respect and often showed it through quiet acts of generosity.
On April 19, 1995, Doug married Estelle Roberta Beck in Reno, Nevada, beginning a partnership built on deep love, mutual respect, and a shared sense of humor. Their life together was filled with warmth and devotion, and Doug embraced his role not only as a husband but also as a proud father to Ryan Russell Edwards and Corey Michael Edwards, and a devoted stepfather to Mary Mareva Massey. He treasured his family above all and took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow.
Doug was a man who embraced life with curiosity and energy. He loved exploring the world through diving and mountain climbing, always seeking new challenges and experiences. At home, he found joy in cooking for his loved ones and could often be found tinkering with engines or mechanical projects fixing, building, or improving whatever he touched. Doug had a generous heart and a playful spirit, often surprising family and friends with thoughtful gifts picked up on a whim. To know him was to feel welcomed, seen, and valued.
He is survived by his loving wife Estelle; his children Ryan and Corey Edwards; his daughter-in-law Danette Edwards; his stepdaughter Mary Mareva Massey and son-in-law Aaron Massey; and his grandchildren Archer Edwards, Logan Massey, and Chase Massey. He also leaves behind many friends and extended family who were touched by his kindness and warmth.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Arthur; and his sisters Rebecca, Patricia, and Melissa Edwards. Though their loss was deeply felt, Doug carried their memory with quiet strength and love throughout his life.
He will be remembered always as a man who never knew a stranger, whose presence brought comfort and laughter, and whose legacy is one of love, generosity, and quiet strength. He will be sorely missed and forever loved.
