Dwight Dale Young was born on February 2, 1952, in Gardner, Kansas, and passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, in Albany, Oregon.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. He is survived by his brother, Doug Young.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Young; his son, Shawn Young; and his three daughters and their families: Sabrina and Mark Wood, Linda Jomwe, and Tabitha and Jeffrey Brayer. He also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren—Orion, Caleb, Brooke, Everest, Jaelin, and Lindon—and one beloved great-grandchild, Liam.
Dwight dedicated 30 years of service to ARCO Pipeline Company before retiring. He had a deep love for nature and spent much of his life enjoying the outdoors. An avid Harley-Davidson rider, he loved exploring the open road as much as he loved fishing, hunting, golfing, and playing pool. Bowling was one of his lifelong passions, and after moving to the Oregon Coast, he joined another league where he made many wonderful friends. Whether he was jamming out to music on a drive or relaxing by a fire pit with family and friends, Dwight found joy in life's simple moments.
Dwight had a remarkable ability to connect with people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and made friends from all walks of life, always finding common ground through his broad knowledge, genuine curiosity, and open-minded nature. His kindness, sense of humor, and generous spirit made others feel welcome and at ease, and his love for family and friends was evident in everything he did.
His legacy will live on through those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of Dwight's life will be held at a later date in the Kansas area. Additional details will be shared with family and friends when they become available.
