Emmett Morton Griffith, born on May 21, 1937, in Long Beach, California, departed this world on November 13, 2023, in Stayton, Oregon. He was the beloved husband of Judith Boyd, whom he married on May 23, 1954, in Hartshorn, Oklahoma. Emmett was born to the late Velva Goodson and Roy Griffith and was the loving brother of Wayne Griffith and the late Betty Wyatt.
Emmett leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his children Bud Griffith, Karen Chrisman, and Lynn Cervantes, as well as his grandchildren Molly, Amy, Tarah, Joel, Kayla, Emily, Nathan, Zachary, Charity, and Christa. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Canyon, Josh, Liam, Phoebe, Addie, Lydia, Jack, Miles, Everett, and David.
Emmett earned his B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from Oklahoma State University, showcasing his dedication to education and excellence. He served his country proudly as a member of the US Air Force, contributing to the nation's defense with honor and bravery. Later, he pursued a career as a TWA Airline Captain, displaying skill and professionalism in the aviation industry.
Beyond his professional life, Emmett was an active member of the Salem RC Pilots, where his passion for flying soared to new heights. His hobbies included building, restoring, and flying aircraft, as well as building and flying RC model planes. Emmett's nimble fingers also found joy in playing the steel guitar, creating beautiful melodies that echoed his love for music.
Emmett Morton Griffith will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, and faithful friend. His contributions to his family, his country, and his community will be cherished for generations to come. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal light of his faith.
