Erma A. Hough, age 95, died peacefully in her care home on Sunday, April 12, 2026, following a long battle with dementia.

She was born August 29, 1930, in Edgemont, South Dakota. She was the middle child of 7 children to the late Fredrick E. Bushman and Alice Mary Kennedy. She attended school in Burns, Oregon graduating in 1947. She took many clerical courses throughout her life. Right after high school graduation she moved to San Fransico, California and live with her older sisters.

She married George R Hough on September 1, 1951, in Carmel, California. In their early years of marriage, they moved frequently with the navy, and while stationed in Seattle, Washington their only daughter Lisa was born. In 1969, they purchased a Dairy Queen restaurant in Monterey, California. She and George worked side by side during this time.

In 1974, Erma and George moved to Stayton, Oregon. Erma went to work for Stayton Canning Company, later called Norpac until her retirement.

Erma is preceded in death by her husband George R. Hough, her stepson Ronald D. Hough, parents and three older sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa and Husband, John; grandchildren, Megan and Sean of Salem, and three great granddaughters, Brynnley, Abby, and Emmie. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many good friends. She is also survived by her husband Charles Henry.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11 am at Salem Alliance Church 555 Gaines St NE, Salem, Oregon. Pastor Josh Mann will officiate.
