Galilee Mary Weldon (nee Borden)

March 9, 1948 - November 26, 2023

Galilee is survived by her husband John Charles Weldon III and three children, John, Cynthia, and Jeremy.

Galilee was born to Grace and Fred Borden while traveling in a jeep as her parents were driving over Stage Hill Mountain in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She was the youngest of Grace and Fred’s four children. Because of her parents’ calling as missionaries, Galilee’s childhood was spent moving around the world, living in Tanganyika from 1953-1958 and then later in Bolivia from 1963-1968. Galilee graduated from Multnomah Bible School in Portland, Oregon in 1970. While visiting her older brother in South Africa in 1974, Galilee met her future husband, John. They were married in June of 1975 in Benoni, South Africa.

In 1978 they moved to Zimbabwe where they ministered together as Pastor and wife and raised their three children. In 1996 Galilee and her family moved to Oregon in the United States, where they remained until the time of her passing in 2023.

Galilee is best remembered for her love and devotion to the Lord. For her deep, unshakable faith in God’s goodness and mercy.

She lived her life ever striving to serve God in her word and action. One of her great joys in life was playing the piano and singing at church worship service. Galilee possessed an adventurer’s spirit, which she nourished through her insatiable appetite for reading. She instilled in her children a curiosity for the world around them. Galilee was ever ready to chat, exploring ideas and principles of life, while remaining open to listen with suspended judgment. She was quick to laugh and equally available to counsel.

Galilee will be honored and loved by her family and friends from around the world while she rejoices in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
