Gary May

Gary May, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at home on July 29, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on November 6, 1952, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Gary was the beloved son of Joan and Elmer May, who preceded him in death.

On September 4, 1997, Gary married the love of his life, Shirley May, in Bullhead City, Arizona. Their bond was one of enduring love and companionship. Gary was a proud father to his son, Ricky Plana, and a cherished grandfather to Anthony Cooper and Angel Cooper.

He spent over two decades in Hackberry, Arizona, and later made Salem, Oregon, his home for ten years. Gary was known for his deep passion for automotive work and could often be found under the hood of a car or tinkering in the garage. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—smoking fine cigars, watching classic Westerns, and snacking on grapes, one of his favorite treats.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; his son, Ricky; his sister, Gail Robertson; his brother-in-law Toby; sisters-in-law Sarah and Vicki; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, including Billy, Ira, Danny, Eric, Ron, Dusty, and Ralon.

Gary’s warmth, wit, and steadfast nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the memories he created and the love he gave so generously.
