Harold Howard
Scott
January 1, 1947 – April 19, 2026
Harold Howard Scott, Known to many as "Scotty," passed away on April 119th at the age of 79, proving that even the toughest old growth eventually falls and even the best storytellers run out of breath. He was born in Sweet Home, Oregon, and spent most of his life in the Willamette Valley.
Harold served honorably in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. After returning home, he built a long career as a logger, working as a timber faller for more than 40 years. Those who knew him best also knew the softer side of this rugged man and admired his loving, goofy nature, endearing wink, and his always-ready-for-adventure spirit. He was the source of many great stories, often drawn from his life as a mountain man, avid hunter, fisherman, and skilled outdoorsman.
He is survived by his wife and life partner, Leslie; his four children; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Howard Scott; his mother, Edna Mae (Jones) Scott; and his two brothers, Gibby and Dal. Harold's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held on May 9 at 1:00 AM at the Lebanon American Legion Santiam Post 51. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Vietnam Veterans of America.
Harold will be remembered for his true grit, happy chuckle, big smile, loving heart, and deep respect for nature.
