Jane Bernice Mowdy, born on April 10, 1944, in Bixby, Oklahoma, to Wilburn Neal and Noble Marie Harris, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024, in Puyallup, Washington. She was one of many siblings in a close-knit family that moved out west during her childhood.


Jane valued education and earned her GED, a testament to her dedication and perseverance. Throughout her life, she resided primarily in Oregon, where she found joy in gardening, cooking, and nurturing her family. In 2009, she relocated to Washington, yet maintained strong ties with her family in Oregon, visiting as often as she could.


Jane dedicated herself as a caregiver to family and friends, offering comfort and companionship to those in need. She also worked at a Mushroom plant and at Siltec in Oregon where she was involved in the manufacturing of Computer chips. Her professional life showcased her diverse skills and commitment to hard work.


Beyond her professional life, Jane had a profound love for cultivating a large vegetable garden. She delighted in collecting berries and apples, skillfully transforming them into jams, cobblers, and pies. Her culinary talents extended to preparing big family dinners, with tamales, applesauce rolls, and pozole being her specialties. Jane found immense joy in watching her loved ones relish her homemade meals.


Jane's legacy is profoundly marked by her love and dedication to her family. She is survived by her children: Joann Margaret Walling, Lloyd Earl Walling, Albert Anthony Sierra, and Maria Assencione Sierra. Her memory lives on in her cherished grandchildren: Elijah Sierra, John Mowdy, James Ryan, Jane Richards, Jessie Ryan, Alyssa West, Crystal Walling, Lloyd Walling Jr., Ronnie Slone, Caleb Dover, Colton Huff, and Chahaleh Sierra. She had several great grandchildren whom she adored. She is also survived by her beloved siblings, Afton Neal and Annie Neal. Jane was preceded in death by a son Lewis Eugene Walling.


A service to honor and celebrate Jane's life will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 12 p.m. at Weddle Funeral Service. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Miller Cemetery in Scio, Oregon.


Jane's warmth, generosity, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, family, and culinary delight will continue to inspire and nourish those she leaves behind.
