Janet Lee Fry, 79, passed away at home on March 17, 2025, with her children by her side. She is survived by her three – (3) children, George Seymour of San Diego, CA, Debora Curry, of Santee, CA and Christina McDonald of Aumsville, OR. She had nine – (9) grandchildren, Jared, Hannah, Simon, Kenan and Micah from Debora; and Abby, Emily, Sarah and Michael from Christina. She is also survived by her brother, Alan Perkowski of Plano, TX, and her ex-husband (and still friend), George Seymour of Escondido, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Fry, her parents, Earl and Camilla Perkowski, and her sister, Joyce Lintner. Janet was cremated March 18, 2025, and at her request her remains will be scattered at sea on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:00AM off the coast of Point Loma, CA.

Janet was a devoted and family-oriented woman. She enjoyed all family gatherings from holiday and birthday celebrations, to watching and planning activities with her grandchildren. She loved gardening, cooking and playing Shanghai Rummy with family during get-togethers. She was an exceptionally kind and giving person, constantly welcoming others into her home anytime friends or family needed a place to stay.

Professionally, Janet worked as a teacher and administrator. She received her bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University and her master’s degree (in Administrative Education) from Point Loma Nazarene College. She spent her entire career as a teacher and administrator, both in public and private schools.

Janet was a Christian and woman of faith; her beliefs were evidenced by the way she treated others. And, while she understood not everyone shared her beliefs, she was compassionate, loving, and inclusive to everyone, even those whose beliefs did not align with hers. Her children remember her as the loving, kind and generous mother she was. While her passing has left a tremendous void, she leaves behind incredible and cherished memories which will last a lifetime to those who loved her.
