Jeanette “Jan” Kay Stupfel was born on April 5, 1935 in Vancouver, Washington to parents Glendon and Agnes Bunker. She passed away on April 4, 2023 after dealing with many health issues. She was the oldest sister to her brothers Glenn and Waldo – decd. 2013. She grew up on the Washington coast near Ocean Park and later moved to Longview in her teens. She was a devout Catholic and was very active with her neighborhood parishes throughout her life. After completing high school with excellent grades, she started nursing school at Providence Hospital in Portland. She met William “Bill” J. Stupfel – decd. 2015 at a dance, and they later married on November 19, 1955. They had eight children; Don (Sandi), Joe – decd. 2018, Tom, Mike (Sabrina), Kay (Darrin), Leslie (Joe), Patricia (Laura), and Marianne (Adrian). She had eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to being an excellent cook, she had many hobbies including gardening, sewing, crocheting, and baking cookies. Jan had a green thumb with all plants, and the garden was truly her happy place. She will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends. Her service will be held on April 14 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shaw with rosary at 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association.
