Kathleen Diane Harris

Kathleen Diane Harris was born on February 27, 1960, at Santiam Hospital in Stayton, Oregon, to Orlando “Pete” Harris and May Marie (Morgan) Harris. She passed away suddenly on July 9, 2025, at Salem Hospital in Salem, Oregon.

Despite early predictions that she might only live into her teen years, Kathleen lived a full and meaningful life marked by extraordinary strength and perseverance. Her parents provided her with devoted, compassionate care throughout their lives. After their passing, she was lovingly cared for by Pat and Jim Kitzhaber, along with Sandy, who all became like family to her.

Kathleen found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved riding in cars and would light up with a smile whenever the opportunity for a road trip arose. She had a special fondness for animals and enjoyed watching birds from her window. Her favorite treats included pizza and peach cobbler, and she had a lifelong love of rock music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Virginia, and her caregiver Jim. Kathleen is survived by her brothers Larry and Bruce Harris, her sister Nancy Kelle, and caregivers Pat and Sandy, along with several extended family members.

A celebration of Kathleen’s life will be held at a later date. Private interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Gates, Oregon.
